Kantar: WP, Android grow but lose some momentum:
Kantar has just released its statistics on the smartphone OS market share for the quarter ending in December. The report shows Android and Windows Phone expansions continue through 2013 with steady growth even though it might be losing its momentum. Meanwhile BlackBerry and iOS lose users in all key markets.

In 2013, the global mobile games market grew by 35% to reach $12.3bn. Deeper analysis of this growth show significant differences between appstores and countries. As part of our 2013 review effort, we have looked at individual store growth and country rankings over the last 9 months of 2013 for the iPad, iPhone and GooglePlay stores. An overview of ranking shifts per appstore can be found in the graphs below. On a global level, the $12.3bn revenues generated by mobile games in 2013 are regionally divided as follows:

  • Asia-Pacific: 48% or $5.9bn
  • North America: 24% or $3.0bn
  • Europe, Middle-East and Africa: 24% or $3.0bn
  • Latin-America, 4% or $0.4bn
