Tiny Tycoons Preview

Tiny Tycoons Preview :
Tiny Tycoons is a “geo social game”—a social game that’s based around real-world geography. Instead of building up an imaginary city from scratch, you can essentially turn your neighborhood into a digital game of Monopoly: Businesses in your region become purchasable and sellable, and you can lord over all of them with an iron fist. Maybe you can even do something about your favorite bakery’s roach problem while you’re at it, yes?

Combo Crew Preview

Combo Crew Preview:
Games with titles that suit them always make me smile, so a beat ‘em up called Combo Crew is guaranteed to make me grin. The Game Bakers’ upcoming mobile game will allow players to battle through waves of enemies either solo or co-op to reach the top of a tower in the style of classic brawlers. Combos, you say? Yes, I think so.

Trion breathes new life into RIFT with Raptr Rewards promotion
Engaging new players and retaining veteran ones is one of the great life goals of every MMO. Trion looked to outside incentive in trying to find ways to revitalize RIFT's playerbase. Partnering with Raptr, Trion came up with a four-tier reward system that gave players everything from a free copy of the game to in-game ranks, mounts, and gear.

The free copy of RIFT was accompanied by a month of game-time and served as the first reward, meant to bring in players of other RPGs. The other tiers were aimed toward veteran-type players. Al the rewards were available from mid-November to the end of January.

How effective were these rewards? RIFT's daily active players on Raptr increased 470% over the length of the promotion, and average daily playtime jumped up from four hours a day to just over six.

It's almost like players like getting stuff.

Sonic Dash (iOS) review

Sonic Dash (iOS) review:
Sonic DashSonic Dash is a new iOS game from Sega. It’s available now as a $1.99 download from the App Store, with additional in-app purchases of the game’s two currencies.
It’s honestly surprising that Sega’s long-standing mascot character Sonic the Hedgehog hasn’t has a mobile endless runner game to his name yet, since the very nature of past Sonic games lends itself ideally to this type of experience. Instead, we got the (admittedly pretty good) Sonic Jump and ports of past mainline titles in the series, but it has taken until now to see Sonic doing what he does best.

Dungeon Plunder Review (iPhone, iPad)

Dungeon Plunder Review (iPhone, iPad):

Gamezebo Rating:

60
When the free dungeon crawler Rogue was invented in 1980, I doubt anyone imagined it would spawn a host of spin-offs legion enough to last over 30 years and invent its own genre. But it did. Its impact is seen everywhere from blockbuster hits like the Diablo series to more modest iOS games such as Dungeon Plunder.

Prime's Quest Review (iPhone, iPad)

Prime's Quest Review (iPhone, iPad):

Gamezebo Rating:

70
The sliding block puzzle does not mess around.  It’s a no-nonsense, stick-to-the-formula kind of genre that is rarely seen gallivanting with other game types.  Unlike the permanent identity crisis of match-3 games, sliding puzzles know who they are and what they want: move the blocks, get the highlighted block to the goal, home in time for dinner.  Prime’s Quest is here to change that, and cause worlds to collide.  Sliding block puzzle, meet adventure game.

Pocket Fishdom Review (iPhone, iPad)

Pocket Fishdom Review (iPhone, iPad):

Gamezebo Rating:

60
Pocket Fishdom is not to be confused with Fishdom, another game available on iOS (and a number of other platforms). Even though both games are spawned from Playrix, they belong in different tanks:  Fishdom is a Match-3 title, whereas Pocket Fishdom is about raising, breeding, and collecting your aquatic darlings. In fact, Pocket Fishdom is quite far removed from anything that resembles gameplay, though it’s still a decent and relaxing fish-breeding title.

Angry Birds Cartoon To Be Broadcast Via Every Angry Birds App

Angry Birds Cartoon To Be Broadcast Via Every Angry Birds App:
Rovio reveals an unusual distribution system for its feathery, piggy cartoon series.
Rovio has an upcoming 52-episode cartoon series on the way, ready to hit select video-on-demand TV channels on March 16th, but on March 17th the episodes will also be broadcast via every Angry Birds app on smart devices.
This effectively gives the cartoon a distribution network of 1.7 billion "screens," which equates to the number of times (in total) the Angry Birds apps have been downloaded. The same day it hits the apps, the episode will be shown over Comcast's network in the U.S. Each episode in the series will follow the same model. They'll also be viewable via Samsung TVs, probably under the same deal that brought a gesture-controlled edition of the Angry Birds game to certain Samsung Smart TVs recently.

JOYHUBs announces new browser MMO Call of Camelot

JOYHUBs announces new browser MMO Call of Camelot:
Call of Camelot artwork
As great as big-budget MMOs can be, sometimes it's nice to have a game you can play to kill some time during your lunch break at work, and nothing fills that niche better than a good-ol'-fashioned browser game such as JOYHUBs' newly announced title Call of Camelot. The game takes place in the mythical realm of Camelot, and features all the Arthurian fantasy staples people expect: dragons, wizards, demons, and kings who expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at them[citation needed].

The game's press release boasts a number of features such as three PvP modes (team-based battlegrounds, guild-vs-guild-vs-guild siege warfare, and open-world encounters), and instances "where players can train themselves or their mounts." Players can work toward enhancing their equipment, find and acquire new mounts, and even get married. Call of Camelot also features a method of idle-progression in the form of an "in-game legal bot" which "allows players to beat mobs automatically," which is a feature that will likely fall into love-it-or-hate-it territory. If any of that sounds like it tickles your fancy, the game will be entering alpha testing sometime this month, so keep an eye out for more news soon.
